Believe, Belong, Be Trained, Be Strong.

Reflections on Dr. King at 90.

Today is the 90th birthday of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. As we strive to Be the Church in 2019, I urge you to listen to the sermon preached by King at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary titled “The Church on the Frontier of Racial Tension”

The Church must be an example to the world of unity, harmony, and forgiveness found in Jesus Christ. Quoting Dr. King from this sermon,

“The church must make it palatably clear that segregation is a moral evil which no Christian can accept. The church must make it clear that if we are to be true witnesses of Jesus Christ, we can no longer give our allegiance to a system of segregation.”

Today, how can you Be the Church by bringing harmony between people? How can you Be the Church by exposing injustice? Are you being a true witness of Jesus Christ by bringing unity between your fellow man?

I pray for the day when all those redeemed by Christ “out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation” (Rev 5:9) worship around the throne of God.
